In 1980, driven by bold ambition and a visionary mindset,
René Bertrand brought a simple idea to life in his garage: revolutionize the field of concrete sawing and drilling. Guided by his entrepreneurial spirit, he developed innovative solutions that would transform the industry — most notably inventing a technique to saw driveway entrances directly into existing curbs and sidewalks, a major breakthrough in construction practices.
What began as a modest project quickly grew into a company with international reach, fuelled by patented equipment now used across the United States and Europe.
In 1998, the next generation stepped in
when René’s daughter, Manon Bertrand, and her husband Rhéal Thouin acquired the company. Together, they carried forward René’s mission of innovation and excellence, taking the company to new heights. Manon quickly gained recognition in the industry and, in September 2013, made history by becoming the first woman to be named president of the Association de la construction du Québec (ACQ) — a milestone for both the company and the construction industry.
Today, the legacy lives on through their three children, Alex, Renaud, and Valérie, who proudly lead the family business.
